Congratulations to Laraib of the Orr Lab on receiving an American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship, a two-year award supporting her research on the effects of FTD/ALS-linked TDP-43 pathology on neurovascular function. Her work focuses on how dysfunction of TDP-43 in astrocytes may disrupt the tightly coordinated interactions among neurons, blood vessels, and astrocytes that are essential for maintaining brain health, particularly under neuroimmune stress. By advancing understanding of how TDP-43 impairs astrocytes and compromises neurovascular integrity, this research may reveal new mechanisms of neurological disease and inform strategies to promote neurovascular health.
